This version of Lex Luthor is from the Batman Versus Superman movie . I purchased this figure at a local Walmart for around the $ 19.99 price range . Lex comes with no accessories with the exception of the Collect and Connect piece, which is a part that belongs to a replica of Batman's grapnel blaster. I remember wanting this figure immediately the first time I saw a preview pic of it from one of the Comic conventions . It's always great to have civilian dressed figures added along with super heroes and villians. Even though this figure is labeled as Lex Luthor, you can use your imagination and pretend that he is just some average civilian . Since he is in normal everyday clothing, in my opinion this figure looks like it belongs more with those Buffy the Vampire / Angel figures instead of any super hero line . More on that in a moment .
In the description on the side of the packaging , the first couple of paragraphs are referring to Batman, as he is concerned that Superman may be too powerful to be fully trusted. The bottom half of the paragraph is referring to the threat of Lex Luthor without actually mentioning his name.
Now for a look at Lex out of the packaging .
Not only is this Lex Luthor figure in everyday clothing , but it also represents him when he was a very young man . A full head of hair compared to no hair, etc. I love how realistic details are added to this figure . For example, his t-shirt has wrinkles in it as if it was never ironed , plus the shirt tail hangs over the left side of his belt. This gives us an indication that Lex did not care much for his personnel appearance . As for the figure itself, I'm very pleased with it . As always with figures with jackets, the bottom corners can be moved , just like those Mattel Movie Master figures such as Alfred and Two-Face . I love the look of the sneakers and how they match his jacket . Now for a comparison of this younger Lex to an older version of himself .
Even though the younger version of Lex is a representation / likeness of the actor that portrayed him in the Batman V Superman movie , whereas the older armored version is of comic book likeness, there are two similarities in the faces . The two things that both figures have in common, is that they both have green eyes and brown eyebrows . This is great for those collectors that desire these two figures to be the same person . Now for some looks at the Collect and Connect piece .
Above are looks of the Collect and Connect piece from three different angles, views . This part was not named, although it is a piece of Batman's grapnel blaster, as already mentioned . Also already mentioned at the beginning of this article, is how I think that this version of Lex Luthor looks like he belongs with those old Buffy the Vampire Slayer figures instead of the DC Universe .
Two different toy lines , two different franchises, and two different companies, yet all three figures pictured above look as if they blend in perfectly .
FINAL THOUGHTS
(1) ARTICULATION - The only part of Lex's articulation that seems to be somewhat hindered is his head . He can look downward just a little, but no upward head movement .
(2) STANDING ABILITY - The figure stands fine once you adjust him into a perfect stance .
(3) WHAT I LIKE BEST ABOUT THIS FIGURE ? - The realism , a wrinkled shirt and a hanging loose shirt tail . Plus the luxury of having another 6 inch scaled civilian dressed figure added to the collection, even though it is Lex but does not have to be .
(4) WHAT I LIKE LEAST ABOUT THIS FIGURE ? - There is nothing that I dislike about this figure .
(5) WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO IMPROVE THIS FIGURE ? - Nothing the figure is perfect as it is .
(6) GRADING SCALE - I give this figure a Perfect 10 . I could find no flaws .
(7) FINAL ANALYSIS - Although I will NOT be posing / displaying this younger version of Lex with the Legion of Doom DCU Classic figures, the armored Lex or the Legion of Doom version of Lex belongs more with those figures . However for the above reasons mentioned I am glad to finally own this figure .
