WWE Mattel - Gorilla Monsoon Review !!!

It's great to finally have a figure of Gorilla Monsoon from the WWE Mattel line . As you can see he is a " First Time in the Line " figure and was purchased at a local Walmart for around the $ 19.99 price range.

 I think the back of the packaging noting Gorilla weighing in at 401 pounds is inaccurate . I think they are using his weight from his days as a wrestler . By the time he became a broadcaster he looks nowhere near that weight, he looks a whole lot less than 400 lbs .

 Moonsoon's multiple accessories allow for multiple display options .

 Overall Monsoon is a fun figure to have in the collection and there's quite a bit to like . The old school then WWF microphone , the luxury of changing his jackets and hands along with removable glasses makes Gorilla a worthy purchase . My only gripe however is it would have been nice if the glasses were tinted where we could see his eyes when wearing them .

 Again I also think Moonsoon's glasses should have been tinted allowing his eyes to be seen behind them to stay accurate to the real life look . I think the glasses still look nice just inaccurate to the real life look .

 Above a close up of Moonsoon without his glasses . Sorry for the blurry photo . I think the face sculpt is nicely detailed with the jowls around his chin and mouth.

 As you can see Moonsoon stands at nearly seven inches tall.

 The black tuxedo look is nice however I think I like his default purple jacket look better . Plus the default look gives him a unique look of his own .

 Monsoon's different pairs of hands also allow the luxury of displaying him with different hand gestures. In the pic above one can imagine him waving at someone or a crowd of people .

 The pose above is perfect if you want Gorilla to look as if he is being robbed or mugged on the city streets or anywhere else for the matter . However the smile on his face would ruin the pic because no one would be smiling getting robbed at gun point . So to make it look like an actual robbery attempt  it would be wise to display Monsoon with his back turned towards your camera while in this stick up pose, not seeing his smiling face . As for Moonsoon's hands that have the pointed fingers , they can be good for the very simple reason of pointing at someone or something .

 Back in the 1990s Monsoon would always be paired broadcasting matches with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan . So displaying Monsoon with any Bobby Heenan figure can bring back some hilarious memories of watching these two together .

All the two figures above need is any broadcast booth to recreate their time together on television .

( 1 )  ARTICULATION  LIMITS   -  Limited  upper and lower head movement . Other than that well rounded articulation .

(2) STANDING  ABILITY  -  He stands well when positioned properly .

(3) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE  ?-  There's lots to like. The luxury of finally having a figure of Gorilla Moonsoon is good by itself . However the extra hands and jacket allow for multiple display options .

(4)  WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - No dislikes .

(5)  WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE  ? - The glasses should have been clear with a light tint , allowing us to see his eyes behind them . Because in real life Gorilla wore tinted glasses, however this action figure makes it look as if he's wearing dark shades instead of tinted glasses . As previously mentioned , the tinted look would have been better to stay accurate to the real look .

(7) GRADING  SCALE  -  Despite my gripe about the glasses I still give this figure a PERFECT TEN . No flaws plus there's quite a bit to like . The glasses may be inaccurate to his true look but they still look good however .

(8)  FINAL   ANALYSIS  -   I'm looking forward to seeing more old school WWE characters from the 1990s and earlier as figures . Rather they be wrestlers, managers, announcers, etc .

Marvel Legends - Shuri Review !!!

This particular figure of Shuri in the Marvel Legends line is not the first figure of her in the line. I'm sure that many of you already know that the first Legend of her is the one that comes in that two-pack with the second figure of Klaw . However that first Shuri figure was masked and in her super heroine panther outfit. Although this newer figure is movie based and not comic based, it is the first unmasked figure of Shuri in the Marvel Legends line . I purchased this figure of Shuri at a local Gamestop for $ 22.99 .

Shuri's bio reads -  " The mastermind behind some of Wakanda's most advanced technologies . Shuri designs and distributes Vibranium-powered gear to Wakanda's greatest warriors and allies." 

As you can see above you will be paying for Marvel Legends a few dollars more at Gamestop than you will at places like Walmart , Target , Walgreens, etc .  The other stores go at about $ 19.99 per figure .  Not Gamestop though .

As you can see the only accessories Shuri comes with are the gauntlets and the left leg of the build-a-figure Hulk .

Shuri is a nice figure that does not disappoint . The waist cloth is movable however if you want to remove it you would most likely need some scissors to cut it off .

The red blush on the cheek bones is hardly noticeable when you remove the figure from the packaging . However when zoomed upon with a camera the makeup details are clearly visible .

As you can see Shuri is about six inches tall in height .

In the above pic is the Marvel Legends Shuri  standing next to the much shorter version of the character from the five inch scaled Black Panther line that debuted after the Black Panther movie. I never thought there were so many differences between the two figures until I compared them together . Not only are some of the colors in the outfits are different , but so are the hairstyles and facial designs .

Even the skin tones are different . As you can see the Marvel Legends version has a darker skin tone. Plus the older figure has a cartoon styled face design whereas the Legend version is more realistic . I think this is because the older version is aimed at kids whereas the Legend version is mainly targeted towards us adult collectors .

Above a comparison of both of the Shuri figures currently in the Marvel Legends line . Of course the first Shuri figure is comic book based whereas the unmasked one is movie based .

If you want to put the unmasked Shuri head onto the body of the first Shuri figure you can . However if you do this it will appear as if she does not have much of a neck .

Besides looking as if she does not have much of a neck , this is not a bad look at all. Plus you can put the original Shuri head in her grasp as if she is holding her mask . Below from a side view the head does not hide the neck at all . It only hides a majority of her neck with frontal viewing .

(1)  ARTICULATION   LIMITS  -  Shuri has excellent all around articulation

(2) STANDING   ABILITY  -    Shuri stands well when in a proper stance .

(3) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE  ? -  The luxury of having an unmasked figure of the Black Panther's sister in the line. Also the luxury of transferring her head to the body of the first Shuri figure .

(4) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - No dislikes .

(5)  WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THIS  FIGURE ? - No improvements needed. However a comic book basked unmasked Shuri head would have made a nice bonus accessory in order to get a complete look of the character, both comic based and movie based .

(6)  GRADING  SCALE  - A  Perfect 10  . No flaws found .

(7)  FINAL  ANALYSIS  -   It's great to see more key characters such as Shuri of the Black Panther movie as Marvel Legends . Especially now that we have an unmasked Shuri, a perfect compliment to the first Shuri figure from that two-pack with Klaw .

Help save Youtube Toy Reviews among comics and game reviews !!!

If you've been following the news lately on Youtube I'm sure many of you are already aware of the FTC ( Federal Trade Commission ) cracking down on content aimed at kids with their COPPA ( Children' s Online Privacy Protection ) rule . Youtube violated that rule by aiming ads at children and was fined a very hefty amount of 170 million dollars by the FTC .

To protect themselves, Youtube will be enticing strict rules and removing features such as comments and monetized videos for on vids they may consider aimed at children .

The toy community on Youtube could take a big hit because of this . Which is NOT fair . Harmless Youtube Toy Reviewers should NOT be penalized for a blunder that Youtube made .

Let's keep reviewers like Shartimus Prime , Pixel Dan , Jay C of Toynewsi in business hopefully by commenting and signing these documents at this link ----  https://www.regulations.gov/comment?D=FTC-2019-0054-0001 

These guys are great toy reviewers and  I would hate to see the toy community on Youtube destroyed because of this rule . The FTC needs to know that all toys/action figures are NOT always aimed at children . They are considered as a matter of fact Adult Collectibles .

JURASSIC PARK - Amber Collection Dr. Ian Malcolm Review !!!

I have been wanting to add this figure to my collection ever since I first saw pictures of it online . Now he's finally here. I purchased this figure of  Dr. Ian Malcolm at a local Game Stop for the price of $ 24.99 .

Dr. Malcolm's bio reads - An expert in Chaos Theory, Dr. Ian Malcolm is one of the few original visitors to Jurassic Park . While he often uses humor and sarcasm, he has a deep understanding and respect for the power of nature and knows that " Life...Uh...Finds a way."

Dr. Ian Malcolm is a great figure . A perfect likeness to the Jurassic Park actor portraying the character . The action figure looks great and feels great too in your hands . He is made out of a nice hard sturdy plastic . No loose joints, tight joints which is a good thing . I love the detail in his watch, if you have a magnifying glass you could probably see the numbers .

An up close shot of Dr. Malcolm .  There are not that many action figures in any scale with tinted glasses / shades . So Ian having tinted glasses makes him unique in a way . There are many figures that come with shades, however you can not see their eyes behind the shades . Look closely and you'll see Dr. Malcolm's eyes behind his tinted glasses . A very cool realistic effect as if he is actually wearing real tinted glasses . Nice job on the glasses Mattel . It would be nice if his neck wear was an actual movable item however it looks good sculpted onto him .

As you can see Dr. Malcolm is a little over six inches tall.

The burning stick accessory . It looks much better in person than it does in the above picture . In the above pic it looks like cotton candy and not fire . In other words it looks as if he's holding cotton candy on a stick rather than fire . However in person it does resemble a ball of fire more .

A look under Dr. Malcolm's glasses so that you can see his eyes . The glasses can be removed if you wish by lifting his sideburns. The glasses are inserted into slits on the side of his head and his sideburns keep the glasses in place .

Above the accessories the Dr. comes with . Out of all of them the clear glass of water is my favorite . My camera just does not do the looks of these accessories justice . They look way better in person than in the above pic . The glass even has where it looks as if there is actually clear drinking water inside of it . The extra hands are okay however I like both of his right hands the best because of the ring. I like the look of the ring with the light blue oval piece. I think the yellow piece is fossilized dinosaur waste .

The fossil accessory as you can see has foot stand pegs for your Dr. Ian Malcolm figure, or anyone else that may have holes at the bottom of their heels .
                                                   FINAL    THOUGHTS  

( 1 )  ARTICULATION  LIMITS  -  With the exception of limited up and down head movement , the rest of the articulation is well rounded . Similar to that of a Marvel Legend .

(2)  STANDING  ABILITY  - No need for a figure stand even though he comes with one disguised as an accessory , Dr. Malcolm stands well with no balance issues .

(3) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THE  FIGURE  ? - Perfect likeness to the actor and his tinted glasses . Also the clear glass of water is a favorite accessory of mine not only of this line but any six inch scaled accessories from other lines.

(4) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - No dislikes .

(5) WHAT  COULD  BE  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE  ? - No improvements needed .

(6)  GRADING  SCALE  - A Perfect 10 no flaws could be found .

(7) FINAL  ANALYSIS  -  Dear Mattel, great job on Dr. Ian Malcolm but can we please see the rest of the human cast members of the original Jurassic Park to join the good doctor in action figure form?
