Masters of the Universe Classics -Blast Attak Review !!!

The subscribed MOTUC figure for the month of May 2015 is Blast Attak. Despite missing his split apart gimmick, the figure is cool looking and very colorful with bright vivid colors. I love the light blue on his face , and the gold armor . As for gimmicks, some MOTUC figures came with their old gimmicks, and others have not . Unfortunately , Blast Attak joins Sy-Klone among a few others, as MOTUC figures that did NOT come with their old gimmicks. Despite not having the gimmick, it's good to have him in Classics form finally .

As you can see on the packaging Blast Attak is officially part of the Snake Men's army . I'm glad too, because I've always felt that the Snake Men did not have enough action figures to give them enough fire power to battle everyone else . Even though the Snake Men army is extremely large in numbers in the cartoons and comics, the toys have not had as many members as the Horde or Skeletor's crew .
If you are an old school Masters of the Universe fan like I am , then you can easily notice that
Blast-Attak's bio is derived from two sources . The sources are the old Star Comics MOTU issue he appeared in , and his only mini comic appearance from the vintage toys . The first part of his origin sticks to the Star Comics issue, when Skeletor summons both Blast-Attak and Ninjor from another dimension . The second half of the origin then goes to the part where Blast Attak is stolen from Skeletor by the Snake Men and is then reprogrammed to serve them. In his original mini comic appearance however, he was already with King Hiss. The stolen part was made up by Toy Guru . Now on to the figure out of the packaging .

As mentioned earlier I am pleased with how the figure looks , however I am disappointed that the split apart gimmick is no longer there. Many fans are and were. The golden armor also does not come off, that too is disappointing . Because underneath the golden armor is a red torso that you can see if you pry the armor upwards. However if you want to see the red torso in its entirety than you would have to probably cut the golden armor, probably with some sharp scissors. However no one wants to mess up their figure, so it would be wise to purchase an extra if you want to , therefore customizing the second Blast-Attak figure and not the original .
I love the design of the circuitry on this guy . He even has a timer on the left side of his chest, illustrating that he is definitely a ticking time bomb . Since the armor does not come off, it adds an element of "mystery" to the figure. The mystery of what it looks like underneath . Even though his split apart action is missing, it is still paid tribute to with this figure because he has a line splitting on him both front and back, where the feature takes place . Now for a look at his accessories.
These are the exact same two weapons the original came with . The cord like weapon's function however has been changed for Classics. With the original Blast Attak, the cord was not a weapon. It was what was used to split him apart. Now it is used as a bull whip like weapon instead of just another accessory, as you can see in one of the pics above Blast Attak can now hold the cord accessory in his hand as if it is a whip . The red axe like weapon's function has not been changed, it was his main weapon as a vintage figure .
                                                         FINAL   THOUGHTS
( 1 ) ARTICULATION - Blast Attak has the same basic good all around articulation that the average MOTUC figure has. And despite his torso being covered by the armor, he still has the ab crunch .

( 2 ) STANDING  ABILITY - The figure stands very well with no balance issues .

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? The bright vivid colors with his face and armor, the design of the circuitry all over the figure, and the idea of adding another member of King Hiss army is a great feeling, even though literally he's not a Snake Man , just technically . I also love his facial expression as he appears to be very angry . This is a great expression for all villains to have.

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? His old gimmick is gone, no split apart action . The gold armor  does not come off .

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE ? Find a way to insert the gimmick without messing with the figure's articulation . Make the gold armor removable .

( 6 ) GRADING SCALE - Despite the fact I love this action figure, I will not give it a Perfect 10 . The reason being is because of (1) missing his gimmick and (2) armor not removable . If not for these two flaws he would have gotten a perfect score. So because of these two minuses I think an 8.9 is fair enough .

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - Even though Blast Attak is supposed to be a robot, his face looks as if it is of flesh and blood . The body looks robotic however . However I do not recall many if any robots having teeth , a nose, and blood shot red eyes with pupils, lol . Overall he is still a cool action figure despite missing his gimmick . And even though the armor does not come off the old fashioned way but at least it is made where it can be cut off. As already mentioned I would not do this unless I had two Blast-Attak figures.

Marvel Legends Infinite Spider-Man Series -Spider-Girl -Warriors of the Web Review!!!

I purchased this version of Spider-Girl at a local Target store for around $ 19.97 . At first I thought that this was the same character released earlier, just in a different costume. After doing some Wikipedia research I've discovered that they are not the same people. This version of Spider-Girl is May "Mayday" Parker. She is the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane in an alternate future Marvel universe. This figure is part of the Hobgoblin Build a Figure wave . Spider-Girl  also shares the spotlight with the Spider-Woman figure as variants, with the subtitle labeled as " Warriors of the Web".

As you can see Spider-Girl comes with the head and wings of the Hobgoblin build a figure . Unlike her father as you can see she wears her web shooters on the outside of her costume . Now for a look at her out of the packaging .
I think Hasbro is doing a great job with these teenage character figures. They are very much in scale, maybe more so than the adult character figures. As you can see Spider-girl stands just a little over five inches tall, whereas the average Marvel Legend is around six inches tall and some slightly over that . I love how her hands are in web-shooting poses, plus the web-shooters can rotate around her wrists. Another thing to mention is that, a lot of people may think that the head is simply Spider-Man's head on a female body. However if you look closely that is not the case. Her head is a feminine oval shaped head compared to his head being a more different masculine shape. Now for a closer look at the build a figure pieces.

The above pics belong to the Hobgoblin character known as Phil Ulrich. I will review this Hobgoblin build a figure once I get him complete. As you can see Spider-girl comes with Hobby's head, backpack and wings, and sword handle. Now for some comparison shots of Spider-Girl to two other spidey female figures. The first is a comparison of her to the Spider-Woman figure that she shares the spotlight with in this series.
If you look closely their hands are posed differently . Also they are not the same person . Now for a comparison of this Spider-Girl figure to the Spider-Girl figure released earlier in the Infinite series.
As mentioned earlier, these two are NOT the same person . To end confusion , the first Spider-Girl released in this series, the one in all black and white is a character that was originally named Anya Corazon AKA Arana. She would later change her code name to Spider-Girl . So there are two Spider-Girls in the Marvel franchise that are two different people. Also notice that they look as if they are not sharing the same body. May "Mayday" Parker seems to be thinner than Anya. It's nice to know that the two above are different characters going by the same moniker/ name .
                                                          FINAL  THOUGHTS
( 1 ) ARTICULATION - Excellent all around articulation , and since her hands are in web-shooting poses, the articulation allows for multiple web-shooting posing options.

( 2 ) STANDING ABILITY - Get her knees and ankles in the proper position to make her stand without falling .

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? The idea that the original Spider-Girl that Marvel introduced is finally in action figure form . I love the rotating web shooters and the web-shooting poses with her hands.

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? There is nothing that I dislike about this figure.

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THIS  FIGURE ? An extra unmasked head would have been nice to have. Or even a half masked head similar to the Spider-Man figure in this series would also have been nice.

( 6 ) GRADING  SCALE - On a scale of one to ten I think that she is a Perfect 10 , despite the fact that standing her is quite a task, however once positioned properly she stands well.

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - It feels great to add another spider female character to the collection . This Spider-Girl figure now joins the original Spider-Woman , the alternate Spider-Woman , the figure she shares the spotlight with in this series along with the other Spider-Girl, making up a small army of spider women .

Marvel Legends -Infinite Spider-Man Series - Warriors of the Web - Spider-Woman Review !!!

I purchased this Spider-Woman figure at a local Target for around 19.97 . As for the character and the toy, this is actually " Ultimate Spider-Woman " , however she is not called Ultimate Spider-Woman on the packaging , just Spider-Woman . As a character, this is NOT the original Spider-Woman known as Jessica Drew. This version of Spider-Woman is a female clone of Peter Parker . Everything is explained on her Wikipedia profile. You can check it out at the Wikipedia website.  This figure is part of the newer version of the Hobgoblin, Build -a-Figure series that is . He too, just like Spider-Woman , is not the original Hobgoblin , but that's a subject to be discussed once I have this build-a-figure complete . In the meantime here's Spider-Woman .

As you can see she is under six inches tall and just a tad bit over five inches tall. Because of the small body frame and shorter height than normal figures, it is easy to see that she is a teenager . This is a great sculpt and great figure, however there is something to gripe about . The hard plastic hair makes her top heavy . The hair adds extra weight to the figure, making it difficult for her to stand properly without falling . I think it is about time that Hasbro eliminate the hard plastic female hair and replace it with a softer rubbery plastic . This may correct the top heaviness issue, since a figure being top heavy causes balance problems . Now for a closer look at the figure using both the flash from my camera and without flash . Again the overall sculpt is amazing and notice that you can even see her chest bone muscles . Excellent attention to detail . Plus the hair has some nice shading with the different shades of brown .

Notice that her hair is designed / shaped as if it is blowing in the wind . It is not placed flat on her head, similar to DCU Classics Aquaman wavy hair as if he's swimming. Spider-Woman's hair being like this means that she was definitely made for airborne poses such as jumping or climbing a wall. And as the majority of us collectors know, the air poses can be pulled off with a flight stand . Also notice that both of her hands are in different poses . A closed fist and an open palm. I love figures with different looks for each hand because this feature allows multiple display options . This means we can pose her to punch someone in the face or grab them by the neck , etc . Now for a look at Spider-Woman compared to the second version of Spider-Girl , the other female figure that she is sharing the spotlight with in this series .
As you can see these two figures biggest differences are their hands. Spider-Girl has both of her hands in web shooting poses, where as Spider-Woman has the open palm and the closed fist. So this picture should end speculation that these two figures share every body part, however the above picture shows that they clearly do not . I will review Spider-Girl later in the week . Now below is the "Build-a-Figure" piece that Spider-Woman comes with .
Above is the torso of the Hobgoblin . Again this is not the original Hobgoblin, this is the character known as Phil Ulrich from the Amazing Spider-Man comic books.
                                                 FINAL  THOUGHTS
( 1 ) ARTICULATION - Spider-Woman has good all around articulation, however the hard hair somewhat hinders her looking upwards.

( 2 ) STANDING  ABILITY - You would have to adjust her knees a certain way to make her stand properly . The hard plastic hair makes her top heavy , thus affecting balance .

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - The different poses with both of her hands and the overall sculpt and design of the figure .

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? The hair is cool, I just do not like the fact it makes her top heavy . Other than this gripe the figure is perfect.

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE ? Make her hair into a softer lighter plastic if that is possible . This would eliminate the top heaviness .

( 6 ) GRADING  SCALE - From a scale of 1-10 I give this figure a 9.5 . The minus is for the top heaviness affecting her standing ability .

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - Overall Ultimate Spider-Woman is a great action figure . However the issue with the hard plastic hair on female figures must be addressed. I also love the fact that the Spider-Man army ( spider people other than Peter Parker ) keeps growing and growing . This version of Spider-Woman is definitely worth adding to your collection .

2015 Mother's Day Action Figure Tribute !!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there !!! Today Action Figure Imagery Toy Reviews takes a look at a few female action figures from various lines that are also mothers , in tribute to this holiday . Here goes.
Introducing the first most well  known mother female action figure of 2015 , Queen Angella , whom is the mother of Glimmer . MOTU Classics seems to have quite a few moms . Joining Angella as a mom are the Sorceress and Queen Marlena . If you missed my review of Angella back in April of this year you can view it by clicking this link http://actionfigureimagerytoyreviews.blogspot.com/2015/04/masters-of-universe-classics-angella.html .
An unnamed mom from the " Happy Worker " toy line . She comes with plenty of cool accessories, including her baby you see her with . There are also African American and Asian variants of this mom figure .
Believe it or not , many of you may not know that Mystique is a mother , but I know many of you already know because there are lots of X-men fans . In the Marvel Universe , she is said to be the mom of the X-men hero Night-Crawler .
Finally in this tribute we have Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman of Fantastic Four fame . She has two kids with Reed Richards AKA Mr. Fantastic , however we only have an action figure of one of the kids, the boy Franklin Richards from Toybiz .
That's it for now folks until next year's Mother's Day Action Figure Tribute . Again Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there and God bless you all !!!
