Masters of the Universe Classics -Blast Attak Review !!!

The subscribed MOTUC figure for the month of May 2015 is Blast Attak. Despite missing his split apart gimmick, the figure is cool looking and very colorful with bright vivid colors. I love the light blue on his face , and the gold armor . As for gimmicks, some MOTUC figures came with their old gimmicks, and others have not . Unfortunately , Blast Attak joins Sy-Klone among a few others, as MOTUC figures that did NOT come with their old gimmicks. Despite not having the gimmick, it's good to have him in Classics form finally .

As you can see on the packaging Blast Attak is officially part of the Snake Men's army . I'm glad too, because I've always felt that the Snake Men did not have enough action figures to give them enough fire power to battle everyone else . Even though the Snake Men army is extremely large in numbers in the cartoons and comics, the toys have not had as many members as the Horde or Skeletor's crew .
If you are an old school Masters of the Universe fan like I am , then you can easily notice that
Blast-Attak's bio is derived from two sources . The sources are the old Star Comics MOTU issue he appeared in , and his only mini comic appearance from the vintage toys . The first part of his origin sticks to the Star Comics issue, when Skeletor summons both Blast-Attak and Ninjor from another dimension . The second half of the origin then goes to the part where Blast Attak is stolen from Skeletor by the Snake Men and is then reprogrammed to serve them. In his original mini comic appearance however, he was already with King Hiss. The stolen part was made up by Toy Guru . Now on to the figure out of the packaging .

As mentioned earlier I am pleased with how the figure looks , however I am disappointed that the split apart gimmick is no longer there. Many fans are and were. The golden armor also does not come off, that too is disappointing . Because underneath the golden armor is a red torso that you can see if you pry the armor upwards. However if you want to see the red torso in its entirety than you would have to probably cut the golden armor, probably with some sharp scissors. However no one wants to mess up their figure, so it would be wise to purchase an extra if you want to , therefore customizing the second Blast-Attak figure and not the original .
I love the design of the circuitry on this guy . He even has a timer on the left side of his chest, illustrating that he is definitely a ticking time bomb . Since the armor does not come off, it adds an element of "mystery" to the figure. The mystery of what it looks like underneath . Even though his split apart action is missing, it is still paid tribute to with this figure because he has a line splitting on him both front and back, where the feature takes place . Now for a look at his accessories.
These are the exact same two weapons the original came with . The cord like weapon's function however has been changed for Classics. With the original Blast Attak, the cord was not a weapon. It was what was used to split him apart. Now it is used as a bull whip like weapon instead of just another accessory, as you can see in one of the pics above Blast Attak can now hold the cord accessory in his hand as if it is a whip . The red axe like weapon's function has not been changed, it was his main weapon as a vintage figure .
                                                         FINAL   THOUGHTS
( 1 ) ARTICULATION - Blast Attak has the same basic good all around articulation that the average MOTUC figure has. And despite his torso being covered by the armor, he still has the ab crunch .

( 2 ) STANDING  ABILITY - The figure stands very well with no balance issues .

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? The bright vivid colors with his face and armor, the design of the circuitry all over the figure, and the idea of adding another member of King Hiss army is a great feeling, even though literally he's not a Snake Man , just technically . I also love his facial expression as he appears to be very angry . This is a great expression for all villains to have.

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? His old gimmick is gone, no split apart action . The gold armor  does not come off .

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE ? Find a way to insert the gimmick without messing with the figure's articulation . Make the gold armor removable .

( 6 ) GRADING SCALE - Despite the fact I love this action figure, I will not give it a Perfect 10 . The reason being is because of (1) missing his gimmick and (2) armor not removable . If not for these two flaws he would have gotten a perfect score. So because of these two minuses I think an 8.9 is fair enough .

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - Even though Blast Attak is supposed to be a robot, his face looks as if it is of flesh and blood . The body looks robotic however . However I do not recall many if any robots having teeth , a nose, and blood shot red eyes with pupils, lol . Overall he is still a cool action figure despite missing his gimmick . And even though the armor does not come off the old fashioned way but at least it is made where it can be cut off. As already mentioned I would not do this unless I had two Blast-Attak figures.
