A look at the History of Marvel Legends and Masters of the Universe by Toy Galaxy .

WWE Mattel - Bob Backlund Review !!!

Another figure of an old school wrestler has arrived in stores . Bob Backlund is a " First time in the Line " figure and I purchased him at a local Walmart for around the $ 19.99 price range . I apologize for the " flash" on my camera making his last name on the outer front packaging hard to see . I did not notice the mistake I made until I uploaded the pic to the web, but by then it was too late because the damage has already been done and the package was opened . I'll take better pictures next time I promise .

As for Backlund's accessories , he comes with a championship belt , his robe and towel along with a pair of extra hands . Both of his defaulted hands are closed fists and the extra hands are open palms. Since Bob Backlund's finishing maneuver is the cross face chicken wing , the open pair of hands would work best if you want to create this attack pose with Backlund and another figure .

Besides the action figure itself, the best things I like about Bob Backlund are his robe and towel . The championship belt is nice too but his robe and towel are my favorite accessories. As for the robe, quite a few other wrestlers have robes too such as Ric Flair. However Backlund's robe is plain looking but cool looking at the same time. I'll explain. Flair's robe is decorated with the words" nature boy" with fancy designs. There are no names or fancy designs on Backlund's robe . It's plain looking and not flashy, but at the same time I love the realistic look and feel of a real robe. The texture looks great . As for the towel, not too many figures come with towels, so getting a towel is like getting a rare accessory . Besides Mr. Perfect , Samoa Joe along with the new Shayna Baszler figure coming with one , towels are kind of rare . Backlund now joins that small group of figures with a towel.

As you can see Backlund stands a little over six inches tall .

The expression on Backlund's face looks to be that of anger . It is obvious that Mattel went with the " crazy man personality " that Backlund displayed when he made his return to the squared circle . Mattel is doing a great job I think with the new " True FX technology " . All of the newer figures faces are starting to look so much more realistic than the older figures .

Another option I like with Backlund's robe is that since it is basic looking it can be used on other figures. If you have any boxing action figures in your collection the robe would go great with them.

                                                               FINAL    THOUGHTS  
(1) ARTICULATION  LIMITS - As with all of the WWE Mattel figures limited upward head movement. Rest of articulation is well rounded .

(2) STANDING  ABILITY - Backlund stands great with no balance issues.

(3) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE  - The championship belt, the robe and the towel . Bob's realistic looking face and the luxury of having a figure of him in the line . I also like the extra pair of hands. They along with the robe allow for multiple display options. The luxury of displaying Bob with or without the robe .

(4) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - No dislikes .

(5) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THIS  FIGURE ? - No improvements needed . However an extra head would have been nice that displays his " crazy look " . His face is that of anger, not of a mad man .

(6) GRADING  SCALE - A Perfect 10 because I could find no flaws .

(7) FINAL  ANALYSIS - Keep the old school wrestlers coming Mattel . Great job .

Stranger Things - Barb Review !!!

Barb is my third figure from the McFarlane Toys Stranger Things seven inch/six inch scaled figures . Depending on how you view things, the figures are advertised in seven inch scale however a lot of them can easily fit in with six inch scale figures. Barb is one of them. The other two Stranger Things figures I own I have also reviewed on this site. Back in 2017 I reviewed Eleven and Chief Harper .  Barb is a great figure. I love her glasses. Her hair and face are sculpted well. The pink and blue colors in her shirt look good and I love the realistic look of her faded blue jeans . Look closely and you will notice a few wrinkles in the jeans. Nice job with the realism and attention to detail . Also look closely and you will notice her watch on her right wrist .

 I love how realistic and detailed Barb's face is. Notice the freckles on her forehead ? When I removed the figure from the packaging I did not noticed the freckles at first. After I took this picture that's when I noticed the freckles . Great sculpting on her hair and a nice job on her glasses. The glasses seem to be glued to her face. If you want to take them off you would have quite a bit of customizing to do with some type of cutting tool or other types of removing tools. The lenses seem to be made of the actual clear plastic used in real glasses. Very cool feature.

 As you can see Barb stands right at six inches tall.

 Above the two accessories Barb comes with, unless you count her glasses and the figure stand. A big book and a can of beer. The beer can is my favorite accessory, it looks cool and realistic like an actual can but I love the fact that you can have figures from other toy lines use it also .

 Barb can hold the can of beer with her left hand but not with her right hand. Her right hand was meant for the book, not the beer can , as the right has a peg in the palm for holding her book. If you want to display Barb in drinking poses it can be done where it looks as if she is about to drink, however the articulation limit will not allow the arm to position the can close to her mouth if you want an actual drinking pose . Below let's see how a figure from another toy line looks with the beer can .

I chose this WWE Mattel Elite figure of Kevin Nash to hold the beer can . A lot of the WWE Mattel male figures have an open hand similar to this and can easily hold the beer can . It will take some work to make some Marvel Legends and some other six inch scale figures to hold the can successfully, but a lot of the male WWE Mattel figures can hold it with ease . Now let's see how Barb looks compared with some six inch scaled figures from other lines .

As for the above comparisons with other six inch scaled toy lines, it looks as if Barb fits in best with the WWE Mattel figures . She seems a little too big for Marvel Legends and some other six inch scaled lines, looking out of place. So if you want an audience member for your wrestling fan toy pics as a crowd member, Barb is great for that . She will make a great civilian character next to the WWE Mattel figures.
                                   FINAL  THOUGHTS        
( 1 )  ARTICULATION  LIMITS - Excellent all around articulation . No ab crunch however it's not needed .

( 2 ) STANDING  ABILITY - If you try to stand her without adjusting her stance out of the packaging she may fall. I suggest adjusting her stance, once you do that she stands nicely , without the figure stand .

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - Her glasses . Her hair and facial details such as freckles . Nice pink shirt and faded blue jeans. The can of beer .

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? No dislikes.

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE ? - No improvements needed .

( 6 ) GRADING  SCALE  - A Perfect 10 . I could find no dislikes or anything that bothered me about this figure .

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - Attention McFarlane Toys . Keep up the great work on these Stranger Things figures !!! Nice job !!!

Toys that caught Action Figure Man's attention at New York Toy Fair 2019.

I know I'm a little late with this post as Toy Fair happened last month in February . Someone hit a phone pole recently and it knocked out my internet service for a few days. The problem is now fixed and I'm back. I do not have the time to go to New York Toy Fair personally so below is just a small sampling of links to everything that caught my attention .


MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE CLASSICS -  The BIG NEWS on Classics was the arrival of the 1987 He-Man and Skeletor movie figures, along with Snake Mountain becoming ready for pre-order with a monthly payment plan to cover the 600 dollar price .
