DC Comics Multiverse - MUTANT LEADER REVIEW !!!

If you've read the classic Batman four issue mini series" The Dark Knight Returns", then you are already aware of this character's existence . I purchased this Mutant Leader figure at a local Walgreens for around the $ 19.99 price range . When this character was created, it seems as if DC at the time was taking a page out of Marvel, because there were not that many mutants in the DC Universe at the time when " The Dark Knight Returns " comic book series was made .

The bio on the packaging does not give enough information about the character . All the information that is given on him is the location of his headquarters, that he is the leader of a mutant gang and that he attacks Batman and is later defeated by him . What about his powers if he has any? Or skills ? For more detailed information on this character, you can visit this link http://batman.wikia.com/wiki/Mutant_Leader . In the link it is explained that the Mutant Leader is physically more powerful than Batman , almost kills him yet Bats still defeats him . Now for a look at the figure itself .

Those are glasses on the Mutant Leader by the way instead of a visor. The visor is very reminiscent of Cyclops of X-Men fame .You can see from the side profile that they're glasses. Mutant Leader's face is very detailed. Looking closely you'll notice the frown on his face, plus his open mouth is displayed as if he has dirty teeth . I also think that the mold / body used for this figure is totally new . Or is it ? His body looks like a smaller version of a Masters of the Universe Classics body . More on that later . However this particular body has never been used before in this Multiverse line . The spikes on the Mutant Leader, from his hair, belt, wrist and ankle braces are of hard rubbery plastic. So if a little child is to play with this toy, be cautious because of the spikes . Now for a look at the accessories .

As you can see Mutant Leader comes with a crowbar , a torch and the left arm of the Collect and Connect New 52 Doomsday figure . The crowbar itself can be used with any DC Universe Classics Joker figure to recreate a famous scene out of the comic books. The scene when The Joker beats Robin ( Jason Todd ) with a crowbar in the classic four issue mini series titled " Batman - a Death in the Family . " I'm not sure if that Robin figure in the picture is Jason Todd though. Below is a pic of the actual horrendous scene itself .
Now for a look at the Mutant Leader being compared to other figures .

In the pic compared to Earth 23 Superman , an earlier figure in the line, notice the size difference between the two figures. It's great to see that not all of the figures are the same height. In the comparison to the Thunder Punch He-Man figure, is it just me or does the Mutant Leader possess the same body as a MOTU Classic ? It sure looks that way, notice the similarities in the upper torsos of him and He-Man, except Mutant Leader's mold seems slightly smaller than one of a MOTU Classic . Since the leader is a Batman character, the final pic is a fight scene between the leader and a randomly chosen Batman figure .
                                                     FINAL    THOUGHTS

( 1 ) ARTICULATION  - The only body part on Mutant Leader that seems to have limited movement is his head . No up and down head movement however he does possess side to side head movement .

( 2 ) STANDING  ABILITY - The figure stands really well with no balance issues .

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - The luxury of the addition of another Batman villain to the collection. The spikes makes him look dangerous , and the dirty looking teeth add realism . Nice accessories in the crowbar and torch, as they can be used with other figures. Especially the crowbar to recreate the famous Joker beating Robin scene, as already mentioned . The crowbar can fit in either hand of the Mutant Leader .

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - There is nothing that I dislike about this figure .

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THE  FIGURE ? - The glasses being removable would have been nice, however I am not bothered by them not being removable . On the other hand, an accessory could have use an upgrade, the torch . Don't get me wrong though it looks nice, however it would have been neat to have the flame made out of clear translucent plastic , that way when held up to bright light it would give the illusion of a burning flame .

( 6 ) GRADING  SCALE - A Perfect 10 since I can find no flaws .

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - There's quite a bit to like about the Mutant Leader figure . He's mean looking, dangerous looking with the spikes. The right look for a villain . His half closed fists are perfect for fight scenes with other figures. Plus he comes with cool accessories that can be used with other figures.
