Warcraft - Lothar Review !!!

I purchased this figure of Lothar at a local Target for around the $ 19.99 price range. This figure of Lothar is based on the live action film Warcraft movie, and not the video game version of the character from the World of Warcraft franchise. Jakks Pacific is the company behind these Warcraft figures. Lothar is a heroic character in the Warcraft franchise.

As you can see on the back of the packaging there is a bio of Lothar. And in the interior of the packaging there is some very nice artwork of the castle scenery .

I've taken pictures of the interior art with and without the flash feature on the camera. Now for a look at the figure out of the packaging .

As you can see Lothar stands in around the 6 inch height scale. He comes with only two accessories, his sword and shield. If you look closely at Lothar's face, you can see what I think are battle scars, red scratches on his face. There are two of them . One is on the middle of his forehead, right above his nose near the right eyebrow . The other scar is below his right eye . It's nice to have the scars, making the figure and his profession realistic in the toy world. The upper body armor is sculpted in a hard like plastic, whereas the lower armor at his waist is made of a soft rubbery plastic, so that you can move his legs outward just a little for that perfect battle pose. Below is a closer look at Lothar's accessories .

I think the sword looks nice however it has somewhat of a basic normal look to it. The shield on the other hand stands out a little more I think. A very creative and artistic cool look with a lion's face sculpted onto it. Lothar looks like he could easily fit right in with those old Toybiz Lord of the Rings action figures and with some of the characters from The Chronicles of Narnia action figures. Speaking of comparisons, below are shots of Lothar being compared to figures from other toy lines .

Overall I think Lothar is a pretty decent figure . ( NOTE ) I did not knew that these Warcraft figures existed until I walked into a local Target recently. I originally was looking for WWE Mattel figures, Marvel Legends, DC Multiverse and Star Wars , then all of a sudden I bump into this figure and purchases it . There was very little to no coverage on the internet of these figures . Also it's kind of confusing to distinguish what category this Lothar figure belong in. Is he a video game figure or a movie figure , or both ? He's a video game character however his figure is based on the actor that portrayed him in the movie . So those reasons alone creates the debate of what category he belongs in.
                                                             FINAL    THOUGHTS

( 1 ) ARTICULATION - Even though the packaging says only 14 points of articulation, his articulation does not feel or seem very limited . The only parts that are limited is that he has no ab crunch and there is no up and down movement in the head, just side to side. His arms move up,down and outward. His elbows and wrists rotate . The legs can move up and down and outward a little, except the outward leg movement is somewhat hindered by the armor . Plus his knees and ankles bend and rotate , so you can display him in a variety of multiple sword fighting poses with the articulation that he does have . Also Lothar can turn at the waist .

( 2 ) STANDING  ABILITY  - Lothar stands very well with no balance issues.

( 3 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  BEST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? -  The ability to display him in a variety of sword fighting poses.

( 4 ) WHAT  I  LIKE  LEAST  ABOUT  THIS  FIGURE ? - No up and down head movement . The leg armor hinders his outward leg movement .

( 5 ) WHAT  COULD  HAVE  BEEN  DONE  TO  IMPROVE  THIS  FIGURE ? - Add on the above mentioned up and down head movement .

( 6 ) GRADING  SCALE - I want to give this guy a Perfect 10 score however there are some nitpicks that keep that from happening , which are the ones mentioned in Final Thoughts # 4 , the lack of up and down head movement and the lower armor limiting the outward leg movement. I'm not to bothered by the limited head movement, but the leg armor can also prevent him from sitting. So I think 9.5 is a fair score. Still an overall great figure .

( 7 ) FINAL  ANALYSIS - You do not have to be a fan of the World of Warcraft video game franchise, or the movie, to like these figures . I plan on purchasing the other Warcraft figures from the movie also . Lothar is my first figure from this series .
